Professional award-winning aircraft sales and acquisition services career began as Beech Aircraft Rookie of the Year, many years ago. He has been instrumental in developing customer service focused organizations and innovative marketing ideas. Previously served on the Board of Directors for a well-established general aviation company. Aircraft sales and management services with 500 transactions. Have developed a very loyal customer base; with experience in jet, turboprop and piston aircraft. Most recently served as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the independent West Coast Beechcraft sales and service center. Airline Transport Pilot with multiple type-ratings.

Dan Kimmel
Founder

More than 15 years of professional experience in the aviation industry, with many more as a pilot and enthusiast. Experience includes a management background with both avionics and aircraft OEM's. The last ten years have focused on representing high end corporate and general aviation aircraft including new Raytheon/Beechcraft products. Pilot qualifications include multiple type ratings and ATP experience from pistons to mid size jets.

Artisha Carle 
Manager - Administration and Client Relations
Artisha joined our team in 2012.  She is responsible for corporate accounting and managed aircraft financial reporting as well as, aircraft sales documentation. Artisha is committed to providing clients with exceptional customer service. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.  Also a real estate agent, Artisha is well-versed in the intricacies of documentation, insurance, title and escrow and finance.

Scott Malandrone
Chief Pilot

Scott Malandrone is an Airline Transport Pilot and holds Multi-Engine Instrument, Commercial Pilot Single Engine Land, and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI, CFII, MEI) ratings. He is also type rated in the King Air 300/350. As a key member of the Axis Jet team, Scott is responsible for many aspects of the management program including assisting in crew training and oversight. He also serves as a pilot for the Axis Jet fleet and takes pride in every detail related to each flight. He spent several years in the publishing industry writing about his secondary passion, music, before becoming a CFI full-time, which eventually led to flying King Airs under Part 135 air charter.

Gary Carlson
Assistant Chief Pilot
Gary Carlson is responsible for pilots assigned to Axis Jet aircraft, and assists in training and flight standards. Having flown with the company since 2007, Carlson is an Airline Transport Pilot and holds Multi-Engine Instrument, Commercial Pilot Single Engine Land, and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI, CFII, MEI) ratings. He is also type rated in the King Air 300/350. In the Air Force he served as a Lieutenant Colonel and flew F-16s and T-37s. As a key member of the Axis Jet team, he also serves as a pilot for the Axis Jet fleet and takes pride in every detail related to each flight.

Otto Wright
Business Development
Wright joined Axis Jet in 2016 with more than 12 years of experience in the aviation industry, mainly in leadership and business development roles. Prior, he served as General Manager for KaiserAir in Oakland, CA, and has worked internationally with FERAS and Jetex Flight Support. Before getting into aviation, Wright served in senior management positions with notable technology firms such as Nextel Communications and Sun Microsystems.

Bud Ackerman
Sales Director
While attending Arizona State University, Bud held down positions in flight instructing and flying charter throughout the state. After graduating with a BS degree in Aviation Technology he landed with Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas as part of their Red Carpet Training team. Responsible for ground and flight training of Cessna's most valued multi-engine customers he gained experience in providing the highest level of customer service in the industry. Following his stint in Wichita he joined a family business and moved to Sacramento. Over the past 30+ years he has founded successful companies in computer sales and commercial real estate while pursuing his flying passion. His experience gives him a unique insight into aviation sales both from a customer perspective and an industry perspective. Bud holds an Airline Transport Pilot certificate and is multi-engine rated with more than 1800 hours of flying time.

Mark joined Axis Jet in 2015 with more than 25 years in sales, management and business development.  Most recently, he served in business development with IBM and other technology companies.  Mark learned to fly in 1995 and has always been an aviation enthusiast who made his parents drive him to LAX to watch planes land when he was 5 years old.  After successfully spending over 20 years in Information Technology and traveling extensively both domestically and internationally, he is happy to share his passion in aviation with his clients.

Steve Costarella
Flight Coordinator 

Steve fell in love with flying as a young passenger. His family encouraged travel, visiting 28 countries outside of the United States before he was 21. He completed his pilot's certificate in 1993 and graduated San Jose State University with a BS in Aviation Operations and a double minor in Business and Science in 1996. His career has touched many aspects of aviation including positions with the commercial airlines, freight operators, fixed base operations, charter and even a brief period with the TSA. He joined Axis Jet in 2005 and has since become an integral part of our flight coordination and customer service team.

Carmen's experience in customer service and commitment to excellent client communication make her a great asset for Axis Jet.  She joined our team in 2015 and quickly learned the many facets of aviation while continuing a stellar approach to customer service.

Mee was introduced to the world of aviation when she started working at the Sacramento Jet Center in 2014 as a CSR. While there she learned a about the importance of aviation safety and protocol. Working at the FBO fueled her to spark an interest in aviation and be dedicated to serving every aspect of the clients needs. She is an experienced and important part of the flight coordination division that thrives in a fast-pace team environment

Tony McMahon
Flight Coordinator
Tony started taking flying lessons at the age of eighteen at the Nevada County Airport where he worked as a line service representative. He earned his private pilots license shorty thereafter and continued on the path to becoming a professional pilot. Tony worked as a flight instructor at Executive Flyers flight school and was soon hired by SkyWest Airlines to fly the Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ). After 4 years at the airlines, he was hired on at REACH Air Medical to fly their King Air 200 on medical flights throughout California. He joined the Axis Jet family in 2016 excited to take on a new challenge in an aviation dispatch role. He loves helping people and providing quality customer service in any position he serves. Tony lives in Nevada City with his wife and three young children.

Kendra came to Axis Jet in 2012 after relocating from Newport Beach, CA.  She brings more than a decade of accounting experience and more in the banking industry.  Kendra gradulated from California State University, San Marcos with a BS in Business/Accounting.

Accounting Specialist

Emily joined Axis Jet in 2016. She previously served as an Accounting Assistant at Entercom Communications, processing Accounts Receivables and Payables. As a mother to one adorable son, she has also worked in the pediatric dental field as well as customer service.
